Senior Night '10

Friday night was Senior Night at youth group, and we said goodbye to our graduating Class of '10, including some dear friends of mine. It was emotional, and for a few, including a young woman who has been like a big sister to me, people were queuing up to speak for them and say goodbye. There were a few really sweet moments:
  • The young woman mentioned above, saying goodbye to her also-graduating ex-boyfriend. They obviously still care about each other as friends.
  • A middle-schooler getting up to talk about his graduating big brother, and telling us, "I compare everyone to him, and no one stands a chance." This statement was followed by a big hug.
  • We all signed a T-shirt for someone who's "leaving" though not getting a HS diploma. This young man suffered a serious brain injury a bit more than a year ago, and we have been trying to support him as best as possible. His attitude through recovery such as it has been has been completely amazing, because of his faith and strength to deal with the situation.
All the stories were sweet, actually. We are going to miss our seniors immensely.
